Faint twilight shining on the corners of stones

Image

Wave on wave of life/ Like the great wide ocean’s roll/ Haunting hands of memory/ Pluck silver strands of soul/ The damage and the dying done/ The clarity of night/ Gentle bows and glasses raised/ To the charity of night. – Bruce Cockburn, The Charity of Night

Bob made out a bunch of cutouts for where I am living. Snowmen. He showed up at the church where I worked, unannounced. He didn’t stay for the service – he was on his way to another. He got up early, to catch me before I got busy with the kids. To bring a box of cutouts.

And there I sat. At the back of the church. with pink and white snowmen made from recycled paper. And tears streaming down my face.

I am loved.

Faint twilight shining on the corners of stones... The clarity of light… Gentle bows and glasses raised to the charity of night.

Thank you God for Bob. He made me smile.
